The Country Store in Pennsdale,
PA was built in '39—that is
1839. Today, the Country Store
is bright red, like the cheeks
of the people who bustle in and
out on a crisp wintry day to buy
some of its famous Country Cured
and Smoked Meats. Even though
many years have passed, the
Country Store's smoked meats are
still cured and smoked the
honest-to-goodness old-fashioned
way. Specially selected hams are
cured then naturally smoked to
give you that succulent,
delicate, gourmet flavor, unlike
any other you've tasted. We
believe that our government
inspected products are the best
available. It is the commitment
to quality that has kept people
coming back year after year.
In 1905, the Country Store
was purchased by John A.
Springman and operated as a
General Store, selling dry
goods, sundries, and much more.
After World War II, John
Springman’s boy, Thomas L.
Springman came home and began
working at the Country Store.
The Country Store was not only a
general store at the time, but
was the home of the Pennsdale
Post Office in which Thomas L.
was the Postmaster. With the
Pennsdale Post Office in place,
the Country Store's mail order
business had its beginnings in
the early 1980's when a doctor
from Albuquerque, New Mexico was
passing through the quaint
Quaker village of Pennsdale, and
got hooked on Country Store's
famous smoked and cured
products. Nearly two decades
later, the Country Store in
Pennsdale continues to ship our
famous smoked meats all over the
Country. The Country Store has
been family owned and operated
for four generations, and still
carries the tradition of
excellent service and superior
quality since its beginning
nearly 100 years ago. We would
